Laverne Cameron Walker

Savannah- Laverne C Walker, 85 years young, passed away gracefully in her sleep Wednesday July 20th at her home in Savannah GA. She was born on September 21st 1930 in Savannah, where she spent most of her glorious, God-filled years. Daughter of Tom Cameron and Ernestine Reagan and George Reagan (stepfather).  She married Herschel Walker June 20th 1948. They spent 68 wonderful years together and never had a fight (ha ha).

A loving mother and grandmother, she had two sons, Larry (deceased) and John, and two grandchildren, David and Jamie.

She was a woman of true character and strong faith with incredible love for her family and animals.

She spent most of her professional career as an accounting clerk for the Central of Georgia Railroad.

Laverne enjoyed ballroom dancing, poker, puzzles of all sorts, was an avid coin collector and loved her Georgia Bulldogs.

Words cannot describe the great love she had for her family. She is loved dearly and will be missed forever.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

GUEST BOOK

Jared and I are so incredibly sorry for the loss of Mrs. Walker. We were blessed to be their next door neighbors for two years. They were the first people to welcome us with the mutual love for the bulldawgs and the last to send us on our way to our new city 2 months ago. Praying for comfort during this incredibly hard time.

My condolences to the Walker Family on the passing of your beloved. May Jehovah God grant you his peace while you await the fulfillment of his promise at John 5:28 [ toresurrect those who have been asleep in death]. May fond memories of Laverne linger in your hearts and bring you peace in the days to come.
